US & UK Jointly Address the Russian Cybersecurity Threat

The UK and US issued a joint warning to their respective citizens today, citing a cybersecurity threat from Russia, in which Russian state-sponsored individuals will target the increasingly popular, and purchased, internet connected devices used around the homes and in offices of private citizens. The statement also maintained the extent of, or reasoning behind, the “man-in-the-middle” attacks were not yet clear, citing the overall end goal of these type of attacks are not always to steal information, rather it can also be to coordinate and facilitate later “aggressive acts”.





"Russia targeted “millions” of devices in both countries, often seeking to hack into individual homes or small businesses or to control their routers."
